And that creation is done by banks, and the bank of banks: the Federal Reserve.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHere's a secret few understand: when a bank gives you a mortgage, it doesn't pull cash from a vault. It creates new money, \u003cem\u003eout of nothing\u003c\/em\u003e, by typing digits into a computer. That money is \"born\" into the world as a debt you must repay, with interest.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMoney to pay the interest, however, is NOT created.
